Thermax was formed in 1973 to design, sell and manufacture heat exchangers for the cryogenic and industrial gas market. During the past 37 years, Thermax’s product line and customer base has grown considerably, and currently includes all of the main global industrial gas companies. In addition to vaporizing the standard industrial gases of oxygen and nitrogen, Thermax equipment is also used for LNG, ammonia, ethylene, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, argon and specialty gases.

Some of Thermax’s new product introductions and innovations include the first “SuperGap” (12″ center to center) ambient vaporizers, the first Automatically Defrostable Fan Ambient Vaporizers, the “ICE-RACK” finless ambient vaporizer, the first hybrid ambient vaporizers, steam sparged water bath vaporizers, immersed fired water bath vaporizers and others. Our most recent innovations include the “MEGA-FIN” high surface area extrusion and the patented Thermal Sheild to reduce thermal stresses in shell and tube vaporizers.

Our product portfolio represents the most complete product range of cryogenic vaporizers available from a single source in the industry.

Global Capability

Thermax Inc. is a global supplier to the industrial gas industry. Overseas sales account for roughly 40% of Thermax’s revenue and continue to grow in importance. To date, we have over 1200 units in operation in over 40 countries.

North America

Thermax world headquarters, which supports engineering, order entry and business functions, is located in Dartmouth, MA. All manufacturing is controlled from this central location to maintain our high quality standards throughout the globe.

Thermax affiliate, James Russell Engineering Works, manufactures our powered vaporizers in their 40,000 sq.ft. facility located in Dorchester, MA. This facility maintains an ASME R and M code stamp and has been in operation since 1886.

Another Thermax affiliate, FWM Inc., in Hudson, NH builds our ambient and fan ambient vaporizers for the North American market. The 45,000 sq.ft. production facility in Hudson is a joint venture between FWM and Thermax. It was brought on line in 1998, doubling our ambient vaporizer production capability.

China

Thermax has formed a new company in China, Thermax Trading, which has a dedicated manufacturing facility and sales force located in Changzhou. This new operation is uniquely positioned to provide ambient vaporizers for the Asian markets.

Far East

Our customers in the Pacific Rim are serviced through Thermax Australasia Pty. Ltd., located in Melbourne, Australia. Since 1996, our Australian sales office has coordinated manufacturing and sales throughout the region. Local manufacturing takes place at a low-cost Indonesian facility.

Europe

For the continental European market, Thermax has formed an alliance with Ferox in the Czech Republic to manufacture Thermax standard ambient air vaporizers, ranging from 25 – 6000 Nm3/hr. Ferox is also ISO9001 registered and can manufacture in accordance with most international design codes including PED.

Sales offices are maintained both in France and the U.K.
